Deteriorating relations between the Israel Bond drive in the United States and the United Jewish Appeal may damage the income of the two bodies. Zvi Herman, chairman of the Keren Hayesod Directorate, reported here today upon his return from the United States and Europe. Mr. Herman emphasized that the United Jewish Appeal received $85,000,000 from the Jewish communities in the United States during 1951.
A proposal that the Israel Bond drive in America and the United Jewish Appeal be placed under a supreme authority “In order to prevent damage to the two bodies” has been made in an editorial in the Davar, leading pro-Government Hebrew newspaper. Pointing out that both drives are important for Israel, the article said that the conflict now prevailing between the Israel Bond drive and the United Jewish Appeal with regard to the timing of each of the campaigns, will be taken up at the plenary session of the Jewish Agency Executive. The session is scheduled to open here on March 12.
