Professor Albert Sabin, the American-Jewish scientist who discovered the oral polio vaccine, was made an honorary citizen of this city, today and received other honors from the municipality and from the State of Guanabara, of which this city is the capital.
Guanabara’s Governor Carlos Lacerda bestowed the city’s honorary citizenship on Dr. Sabin. The ceremony took place at a special joint session of Guanabara’s Legislative Assembly, when Dr. Sabin was handed the keys to the city. His visit here is as an official guest of Guanabara.
