Robert Mond, Industrialist and Scientist, Dies at 71

Sir Robert Ludwig Mond, English industrialist, scientist and Jewish leader, died here yesterday at the age of 71. He had been taken to Paris on Oct. 14, seriously ill from gastric ulcers, to see a specialist. Funeral services are expected to be held Wednesday.

Sir Robert was an officer of several chemical and archaelogical organizations and had played an important part in Palestine, both in archaelogical exploration and research into the country’s chemical resources. He was chairman of the Jewish Council for Boycotting German Goods and Services, and in 1934 visited America in the interests of the boycott and to receive an honorary degree from Toronto University. He received many honors for his scientific work. His wife and two daughters survive him.
