Extraordinary security precautions were completed here today by officials of Hofstra University and village police to prevent rioting tomorrow when George Lincoln Rockwell, leader of the American Nazi Party, is scheduled to address students at Hofstra Hall, one of the main buildings on the campus. An official of the university said that more than 200 county, village and private policemen will be on guard. Rockwell is scheduled to speak about “freedom of speech.”
Members of the Suffolk-Nassau District Council of Jewish War Veterans distributed leaflets near the campus yesterday, protesting the scheduled Rockwell appearance. There was no disorder. Early yesterday, village police removed a replica of the Nazi flag which had been put up atop a flagpole near Hofstra Hall. University officials said that no student had, had a hand in putting up that flag.
