The charge that “hundreds of thousands of Jews” are entering Italy en route to Palestine was made today by the Rome newspaper “Momento Sera” in a front-page article capped by large headlines.
The newspaper declared that the influx of DP’s might jeopardize Italy’s economy and cause international political complications. It demanded a tightening of border controls and the maintenance of a “strict” attitude toward the refugees and that the problem be removed from the shoulders of the Italian Government and dealt with on an international level.
