An introduction to the Henrietta Szold Birthday Book, bearing the names of many distinguished national leaders, was presented to the Hadassah national board today by the local chapter at a celebration of the 80th birthday of Hadassah’s founder, held at the Jewish Community Center here.
Among those who signed the introductory pages of the volume are President and Mrs. Roosevelt, Mrs. Henry Morgenthau Jr., Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins, Katherine F. Lenroot, director of the Labor Department’s Children’s Bureau, Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter, and former Justice and Mrs. Louis D. Brandeis.
When completed, the book is expected to bear 95,000 names representing the total membership of all branches of Hadassah.
