President Roosevelt is acting under Jewish influence, according to two Nazi organs, the Stuermer and the Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, today. The latter, in a lengthy, obviously government-inspired editorial, explains President Roosevelt’s “anti-German” attitude as due to the fact that three of his most influential advisers are Jews. The paper expresses surprise that no ambassador has yet been appointed to represent the United States in Germany. It does not, however, mention the storm of protest which swept over Germany when it was reported here that President Roosevelt was considering the appointment of Herbert Bayard Swope, outstanding American Jewish editor.
The Stuermer deplores that President Roosevelt, definitely a friend of the Jews, is ruling America “in a pure Jewish way”, supporting Poland against Germany. The paper criticizes the invitation of Ignace Paderewski, former Polish premier, and world-famous musician, to the White House.
The paper is also unsparing in its attacks on the New York Times, which it says is working against German interests both politically and economically.
