The Rothschild Foundation, comprising the Hospital in the Rue de Santerre, the Hospice in the Rue de Picpus and the Orphanage in the Rue Eamilardie, has just published its report for the year 1923. The total expenditure for the year for the three establishments amounts to 2,721.510 Francs.

No distinction of race is made and patients of every creed are treated under the auspices of the Rothchild Foundation.

41,200 patients were treated during the year (5,000 more than in 1922). Maternity cases numbered 11,194. 11,451 patients were given surgical treatment, 645 of them being admitted as inpatients. The death rate among the patients decreased to 3.2% from 4.6% in 1922. The number of “out-patients” consultations was 33,458, as against 32,766 in the previous year. There were 3,442 radiograph cases.

The Hospice provided accommodation on December 31st for 76 inmates. The Administrative Council states that the Hospice is in urgent need of enlargement to provide more accommodation. A section of the hospital has meanwhile been reserved for aged persons who cannot be admitted to the Hospice because of lack of space.

On December 31st the Orphanage gave accommodation to 147 children, 87 girls and 60 boys.
