Pleas to the Jews of America to aid coreligionists abroad were voiced by Jewish leaders today on the eve of Passover.

Baron Robert de Rothschild, speaking from Paris over the NBC Blue network on a Joint Distribution Committee program, thanked the Jews of America for supporting the J.D.C. but declared that further support was necessary.

“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that the struggle is by no means over in Europe,” he said, “and that it is more than ever necessary for you today to continue your task of aiding the destitute and of coming to the rescue of those who are falling daily under the rod of the oppressor in the wilderness of hatred and prejudice.”

Dr. Stephen S. Wise, chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, issued a Passover appeal to Jewish communities in the United States asking them to “make Passover a holiday of jubilation and deliverance for those condemned to a living death” by aiding Palestine settlement.
