A sensational report that the government has decided to dissolve the Iron Guard and the Archangel Michael, the two anti-Semitic student organizations whose agitation has been largely responsible for the wave of anti-Semitic attacks throughout Roumania in the last few weeks, appeared in the Bucharest papers today.
In seeking to verify the report the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was informed by government officials that no such decision has been definitely made, but that minister of justice Junian, together with Victor Cadere, chief of the secret police, called an urgent conference of all secret police officers to discuss whether it is possible to liquidate these two organizations in connection with their troublesome activities.
The conference concluded that neither organization has a legal permit to function and thus the matter of declaring them illegal is a mere formality. This means that the government can declare both of these anti-Semitic organizations illegal at any time it desires.
