The Roumanian Government promised immediate measures against the unlawful action of the police in some Roumanian towns in dismissing the local Kehillahs. The promise was made to Dr. William Filderman, President of the Union of Roumanian Jews, upon representations he made to the government.
In a number of Roumanian cities, Dr. Filderman complained, the local police dismissed the elected Kchillahs, substituting them with Jewish commissioners who aligned themselves with the present government in the recent elections. Recognizing that Dr. Filderman’s complaint was justified, the government promised immediate steps to annul the police measures.
