Another denial of the anti-Jewish atrocities in Roumania was made by Prince Bibesco, the Roumanian Minister to the United States, in a letter addressed to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on June 10th. The letter reads as follows:
“I wish to inform you that I have brought the contents of the cablegrams you enclosed to the notice of my Government and am in a position to confirm my denial of May 26th.
“The whole fabric of ‘news,’ originating from Vienna and Budapest is apparently based on a fight, between Jewish and Roumanian students, which took place in a train between Cluj and Blaj. Nobody was seriously wounded and still less killed.
“The Roumanian Government maintains their point of view, as explained in April, by Undersecretary Tartarescu, and has taken the necessary steps to have those guilty of having started the above mentioned riot, brought to trial.”
