Jon Inculetz, Minister of the Interior of the new Roumanian government of Premier Duca, assured Deputy Michael Landau, Jewish representative in the Roumanian parliament, that the new government was determined not to tolerate anti-Semitism in Roumania.
Deputy Landau visited Minister Inculetz today to point out the danger for the Jews in the present parliamentary elections, particularly in the province of Bessarabia. The Minister, himself a Bessarabian, stated that he was acquainted with the situation and declared that he would take vigorous action against the fomentors of disturbances. The government, he declared, had issued the strictest instructions to this effect.
The government also announced that the anti-Semitic daily Calendarul had been prohibited from appearing.
Student organizations are contemplating a vigorous campaign against the government and disturbances are feared, particularly at the University of Cluj, where the nationalist students have invited the anti-Semitic leader Goga, to lecture on November 26 on the subject “National Ideals.”
