Schocken House, a Jerusalem landmark, was converted today into the Rubin Academy of Music at a ceremony attended by Mayor Gershon Agron, members of the Israel Government and guests from all walks of Israel cultural life.

The Academy was launched with a $325,000 contribution from the American-Israel Cultural Foundation. It is named for Samuel Rubin, president of the foundation, who contributed $250,000 as an expression of confidence in Israel’s peaceful future and its cultural activity. The Jerusalem municipality provided 100,000 pounds for furniture and equipment to serve the 1,000 students who will be using the Academy next Spring.
