The Vichy radio today reported from Bucharest that “2,000 Jewish and foreign enterprises in Rumania were subjected to the control of the Secretary of State for ‘Rumanization’.”
Reports reaching here today from Rumania also state that the Nazi military authorities there have announced that 100 Jews will be arrested and executed for every German soldier assassinated on Rumanian territory by local terrorists. The announcement was apparently provoked by repeated killings of individual German soldiers in the oil fields of Rumania as well as in the province of Bessarabia.
