Premier Octavian Goga’s cabinet, announcing plans for revision of citizenships, promised today to observe minority treaties and invited private persons to denounce cases of fraudulent naturalization to the authorities.
At the same time, Porunca Vremi, Nationalist organ, announced that Bucharest’s mayor has prohibited shechita, Jewish ritual method of slaughtering animals.
An official statement issued today on the citizenship revisions states: “The Cabinet decided that revision of citizenships will be effected by a rapid procedure on the basis of existing laws and within the framework of the minority treaties. Verification of citizenship will be made by judicial bodies which will examine the citizenship lists of the municipalities. Public denunciations regarding false declarations will be accepted. A decree will be completed within a few days and will be immediately applied.”
