The Rumanian Government announced today that Jews had been removed from the boards of all but 250 of Bucharest’s 4,500 concerns. The remaining 250 will be promptly liquidated, it was said. Meanwhile, Jewish emigration is being encouraged in every possible way, it was stated.
The Bucharest radio, summarizing steps to remove Jews from Rumanian life, reported today Jews had been ousted from public office, the army, the medical and legal professions, were no longer being appointed company directors or receiving licenses for sale of intoxicating liquors. Jewish cinemas owners have been deprived of licenses. Jews have been dismissed from propaganda services and eliminated from sports organizations.
The Education Ministry has taken measures to train Rumanians to replace eliminated Jews, the broadcast said.
