Continuing anti-Semitism in the universities of Rumania has prompted the Government to propose abolition of university autonomy, it was disclosed here today.
Such a measure, it was stated, will enable the Government to establish order at the universities, where Jewish students have been the target for innumerable attacks by anti-Semites in recent months.
Recently, officials of the University of Czernowitz threatened to close down for one year unless anti-Jewish disorders were discontinued.
