The Bucharest Yiddish theatre, “Ikuf,” was named today a state theatre and will be taken over by the government. An official announcement said there will be no change in management or in the staff. The theatre has been receiving a government subsidy since its inception last year.
A group of former Iron Guard members in Transylvania was sentenced today to prison terms ranging from two to ten years for seizing Jewish-owned shops curing the Antonescu regime. Bucharest papers criticized the long delay in bringing the case to court, charging that some of the judges in Transylvania are anti-Semitic.
