A total of 256 charitable institutions, belonging to Jewish communities in 46 districts throughout the country, were taken over by the Rumanian Government yesterday under a new nationalization decree.
The property expropriated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare include children’s homes, orphanages, canteens, old-age institutions, asylums and medical centers. The decree states that the action was taken at the request of the Rumanian Federation of Jewish Communities.
