The Justice Ministry announced today a second extension, from March 10 to April 1, of the period for Jews to file with courts documents proving citizenship, under the revision of citizenships decreed by King Carol.
In addition, provisions of the decree were modified to permit Jews to be represented before the courts by persons vested with power of attorney instead of having to appear personally, except in cases where the judge rules that the deponent must appear before the court in person.
The Justice Ministry announcement added that regulations governing the application of the naturalizations revision decree would be promulgated in the next few days.
Meanwhile. the Ministry announced that all lawyers except those suspended or struck off the bar registers must renew their professional oath to the new Constitution. Jewish lawyers under suspension pending the citizenship revision consequently will not be sworn in as bar members.
