Radu Lecca, former Minister for Jewish Affairs, in the pro-Nazi Antonesc regime, was among the twelve Rumanian war criminals who, together with former Premier Ion Antonescu, were sentenced to death by a People’s Court over the week-end.
It is expected that the thirteen condemned men will appeal for a pardon. If Premier Petre Groza and Defense Minister Gen. Vasiliu Rascanu forward a request for pardon to the King the sentence could be changed to life imprisonment.
