The town of Targu-Mures, in Transylvania, today parked the fifth anniversary of the deportation of its entire Jewish population to the Auschwitz death camp by the pro-Nazi authorities. The ceremony was. sponsored by the Jews of the town.
The chief speaker, Francisc Welczer, head of the local branch of the Jewish Democratic Committee, told the huge crowd which gathered in front of a memorial to the victims of fascism that by making all racial discrimination a punishable offense the present Rumanian Government was guaranteeing that such atrocities would never again occur.
