Russia sold advanced anti-tank missile systems to Syria and the two countries are discussing the sale of long-range surface-to-air missiles, according to the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. While the purchases would represent an advance in Syrian military capabilities, the newspaper reported that the Israeli defense establishment had not altered its assessment that the likelihood of a war with Syria in the near future is very low.
