Russian Emigration Decreasing

Jewish emigration from Russia in 1923 was equal to only two-thirds that of 1922, according to a report to the Russian correspondent of the J.T.A. by the Emigration Department of the Foreign Office. Most of the emigrants are recruited from among the parents and children of American residents. The decline in emigration is attributed to news received in Russia from relatives in the United States of the difficulties of making a living, and also the activities of the Ort and the Joint Distribution Committee in organizing agricultural and handicraft cooperatives.
