Rutgers Creates New Department of Hebraic Studies

The creation of a new department of Hebraic studies at Rutgers University was announced here today by Dr. Mason W. Gross, president. The new department will be headed by Associate Professor Leon A. Feldman, formerly of the faculty of Yeshiva University, who Joined the Rutgers staff last July.

While the university has in the past offered courses in elementary and intermediate Hebrew language, and a course in Jewish civilization and culture, the new department will develop a unified program in the field of Hebraic studies and Jewish history.
