The Ruttenberg concession for the irrigation and electification of Palestine will shortly be brought before the World Court at the Hague. The rights to this concession have been challenged by a group of capitalists who claim a prior right.
The Ruttenberg concession has met with considerable opposition in certain English quarters, many interpellations on the subject being made in the House of Commons. A few days ago, a Member of Parliament, Becker, asked Colonial Minister Thomas whether Ruttenberg had succeeded in fulfilling the condition of the concession that he raise a certain minimum of capital necessary for carrying on the work. Thomas replied that the condition attached to the Ruttenberg concession was that he raise within a certain time a minimum of 200,000 pounds sterling, and that the previous government had satisfied itself that this sum had been raised.
