S.P. Goldberg was named director of the Overseas Services Department of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, CJFWF President Lewis H. Weinstein announced today. Mr. Goldberg succeeds Louis D. Horwitz, who is now serving as representative of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc. in Israel, while on leave of absence from the Council.
The Overseas Service Committee is engaged in a budget information and consultation process with the major overseas agencies–the United Jewish Appeal, Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc. and Joint Distribution Committee–which receive about half the funds allocated by federations and welfare funds. A member of the CJFWF staff for more than 20 years, including prior supervision of its overseas services for nine years, Mr. Goldberg has been director of budget research for 12 years.
