Egyptian President Anwar Sadat said today in an interview on the ABC-TV ï¿??Good Morning Americaï¿?? show that he is ï¿??disappointed with President Carterï¿??s statement on the Middle Eastï¿?? and added ï¿??it may delay for some timeï¿?? the signing of a peace agreement.
Carterï¿??s remarks would ï¿??for sure make negotiations difficult for me,ï¿?? Sadat said. ï¿??I am disappointed because I should like that we put all our efforts toward ending the suffering in the Middle East and giving a bright future to our next generations.ï¿??
Sadat also said that Carterï¿??s statement ï¿??will postpone this for some time because we have to reopen the issue again.ï¿?? Asked whether Carterï¿??s statement would delay a settlement more than two months Sadat saidï¿?? It may be delayed for some time but I think that quoting 1978 as a year of decision is not an exaggeration.ï¿??
