Salai Meridor was elected treasurer of the Jewish Agency for Israel. Meridor, who is also slated to become chairman of the agency in 2000, is the former head of the Settlement Division of the World Zionist Organization. Meridor will oversee the agency’s $400 million annual budget. This budget represents a $15 million cut, which the agency’s Board of Governors approved at its meetings in Jerusalem this week.
