Two hundred families of the Jewish quarter have been made homeless by hurricanes which flooded 107 tumbledown huts in that part of the city. Furniture from the dwellings was sent floating down the streets by the deluge.

The homeless are being provided for in army tents. Ten thousand drachma voted by the government will furnish further relief.

Action by the government came after Grand Rabbi Koretz and Benu Siglio, president of the kehilla, had requested aid and the Jewish section of the government party had seconded the request in a cable to Premier Tsaldaris.
