The Tenth Annual Salute to Israel Parade, along Fifth Avenue from 57th to 86th Street, will celebrate Israel’s 26th anniversary on June 9. More than 300.000 spectators are expected to join over 75,000 youthful marchers to pay tribute to the Jewish State as this year’s parade theme highlights their exhilaration: “Shalom A1 Yisrael.” Parade participants will be drawn from more than 300 schools and Jewish youth organizations in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area.
A project of the American Zionist Youth Foundation, this year’s Salute to Israel Parade completes a decade of involvement for Jewish youth in the metropolitan New York area. It serves as the focal point drawing thousands of youngsters into the celebration of the newest Jewish festival: Yom Haatzmaut. A two-day festival of band exhibitions and competitions at the Guggenheim Band Shell in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park June 6-7 will be the prelude to the parade.
