The Jewish National Fund of America announced today appointment of Samuel J. Daroff, Philadelphia Jewish communal and Zionist leader, as chairman of a national committee to honor Israel’s former Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, in connection with his 80th birthday. Herman L. Weisman, president of the JNF, said the committee will be made up of 100 leading American Jews.
Mr. Daroff will lead a JNF project to establish a Ben-Gurion park around Dimona, the Negev city projected by the former Prime Minister. The Ben-Gurion Park, a 150-acre site, will include a forest and land for a hospital and sports stadium.
