The Samuel H. Daroff Congress House, which will be the headquarters of the Greater Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Region of the American Jewish Congress, was dedicated today in special exercises at the new home.
Paul D’Ortona, president of the City Council; Donald B. Hurwitz, executive director of the Federation of Jewish Agencies; and Benjamin B. Levin, past president of the Congress, took part in the dedication. A Daroff family plaque, in honor of Joseph, Michael and Samuel, and in memory of Harry and Ethel Daroff, was unveiled at the ceremony. Judge Victor M. Blanc presided.
A dinner was held after the dedication exercises in honor of Samuel Daroff at which Governor William W. Scranton, Senator Hugh Scott and Dr. Joachim Prinz, national president of the American Jewish Congress, were the special guests. Mayor James H.J. Tate and Mr. D’Ortona presented the greetings of the city. Nathan L. Edelstein, honorary president of the AJ Congress Council, presented a scroll and testimonial to Mr. Daroff and his brothers.
