Viscount Edwin Samuel told 400 delegates attending the ninth convention of the Canadian Labor Zionist movement here today that Israel can withstand any forcible attack by Arab nations, if world Jewry will give full support to the Jewish State. The situation would be altered tragically, he said, if Russia actively intervened on the Arab side, or if the enemy had nuclear weapons.
Leon Kronitz, president of the organization, said that Canadian Jews are facing important decisions “as a result of the dynamic and changing conditions, not only in Canada but throughout the world.” Another speaker who addressed the convention, which closed today, included Dr. Samuel B. Hurwich, former president of the organization who now lives in Israel.
