Samuel I. Fox, prominent merchant who has long been identified with welfare and civic work here, will be the chairman of the advance gifts committee for the Community Chest Campaign this fall, according to Douglas Young, campaign chairman who made the appointment. A committee of about sixty-five leading men and women, headed by Mr. Fox, will obtain major contributions to the Chest immediately prior to the opening of the general campaign in October. Mr. Fox is former president of the Chest and is now honorary president in recognition of his years of service to the organization.
