San Francisco’s Holocaust memorial was vandalized for the second time in two months.
The memorial was defaced Wednesday with swastikas inside Stars of David drawn in black marker on the permanent art installation and on informational plaques.
Dedicated in 1984, “The Holocaust,” by sculptor George Segal, is located outside the Legion of Honor Museum in Lincoln Park. It features 11 life-size bronze-cast figures standing behind a barbed-wire fence.
Last month a swastika was scratched into the artwork. The memorial, which is owned by the San Francisco Arts Commission, has been vandalized many times.
Earlier this week swastikas and Stars of David were drawn on the signs of two churches in San Jose, about 45 miles from San Francisco.
