This city is to have a $500,000 Jewish Community Center, it was announced by Sidney M Bitman, who has been named chairman of a committee of eleven authorized to make prolimanary arrangements for the preparation of plans, selection of a size and means of financing the building.

The announcement indicated that the drive for funds to erect the building would he made in the Spring of 1929 in accordance with the recommendation embodied in the report of the sul-committee which named Mr. Ehrmun as Chairman.

Although the idea of the center is not a new one it having been discussed over a period of six years, this is the first time that any definite action has been taken. The building will afford more than a score of local Jewish organizations with social and educational features. The present Y. M. and Y. W H. A. of which Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel is president and Louis H. Blumenthal, executive director, will be merged with the new center when exected, it was stated.

The International Good-Will Congress, dosted by the World Alliance for International Friendship Through the Churches, will hold its general sessions at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York on November 11, 12 and 13.
