Preparations for the fourth annual campaign of the Jewish National Welfare Fund will be conducted this week. it was announced by Judge M. C. Sloss, chairman of the organization’s board of directors, who said the drive for funds this year will be made from September 17 to 26.
The fund created four years ago under the direction of the late Moses A. Gunst for the extension of organized educational and welfare work among Jews of the world. will be distributed under four classifications, Judge Sloss said.
Needs of these groups, which comprise national, educational philanthropic. religious and internatinal agencies are to be studied during the coming week by the budget committee. headed by Leo J. Rabinowitz. and its findings will determine the goal of the campaign.
“Jewish centers in America, Europe, Palestine and distant Asia have received aid.” Judge Sloss said in stressing the merits of the welfare fund.
Judge Sloss pointed out that the Jewish National Welfare Fund has taken over the, campaigns of thirty-five Jewish Organizations which conducted independent appeals annually in San Francisco, thereby materially reducing collection expenses. He said San Francisco was the pioneer community in this plan of philanthropy.
