Pinhas Sapir. chairman of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization Executives, stressed here in talks this week with local Jewish leaders the need for cooperation between Israel and diaspora Jewries based on aliya and Jewish education.
Sapir, who arrived here Sunday during his current tour of South American countries, was scheduled to attend the Ninth Congress of the Federation of Argentine Jewish Communities which opened here today. Sapir has been asserting that an increase in Israel’s population increases the chances for peace.
He was given a reception by Mark Turkow, secretary of the Latin American Jewish Congress which was attended by Ram Nirgad, Israel’s Ambassador to Argentina, and Shmuel Hadas, Israel’s envoy to Bolivia, as well as Menachem Karni. Minister of the Israel Embassy here. Sapir has visited communities in Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Brazil and will continue his tour in Chile, Uruguay and Venezuela.
