British Jews are still hopeful that the Zionist Congress will invite Dr. Chaim Weizmann to return to the leadership and carry on his original policy, the London Morning Post says today in commenting on an interview that Dr. Weizmann gave Dr. Samuel Margoshes, editor of the New York Jewish Day. Dr. Margoshes saw Weizmann as a man who preferred retirement but who would accept a call to resume the leadership.
Other London newspapers feature yesterday’s general debate at the Congress and quote at length from the speech of Vladimir Jabotinsky, Revisionist leader. The Daily Express, which yesterday described Dr. Weizmann’s speech as “a swan song” today terms Jabotinsky the “Jewish Mussolini”.
