Asserting that the amount of money raised for Palestine in New York during 1932 had not been “compatible with the city’s great Jewish population,” and that this fact could not be attributed to economic difficulties alone, Nathan Straus, Jr., Chairman of the American Palestine Campaign of Greater New York, announced that in order to create a greater interest in Jewish reconstruction activities in Palestine a City-Wide Committee has been formed.
He also announced that the 1933 campaign would inaugurate a stagger system of fund-raising in New York, with all efforts concentrated on one borough at a time. Bronx will be the first unit to start an intensive drive for Palestine funds, he said. Max J. Schneider is Chairman and Louis Altschul, Honorary Chairman, of the Bronx Committee.
