Whether or not the Socialist pro-Palestine organizations that exist in various countries are permissible was the subject of a long discussion at yesterday’s session of the executive of the Second International which opened here today. Friederich Adler, general secretary of the Second International, in outlining his point of view, declared that pro-Palestine work was the individual concern of each Socialist but that the existence of Socialist pro-Palestine organizations was not permissible.
S. Kaplansky of Poale Zion, a Zionist organization whose membership is Socialistic, developed in great detail the Socialistic idea of Zionism. The Poale Zion have been waging a long fight for membership in the Socialist International.
Friederich Adler raised the same question at the last meeting of the International’s executive at Zurich in connection with the League for Working Palestine when M. Jarblum of the Poale Zion, prior to the debate, demanded that an opportunity be given to the Poale Zion to inform the members on the activities and aims of the League.
Kaplansky and Jarblum are representing the League at the present session of the International to explain their views.
