The question of how to hamper the anti-Semitic activity of students was discussed today at a meeting of rectors of Rumanian universities under the chairmanship of the Rumanian Minister of Education.
A heated discussion developed with regard to permitting the students to hold their projected congress in the city of Crajova this Sunday. Fear was therefore expressed that anti-Jewish outbreaks may occur during the congress.
ALLOW PARLEY
Following a lengthy debate, the meeting of the rector decided to permit the congress to take place under drastic regulations. The number of delegates to the congress is to be limited, the decision provides.
The entire Rumanian press is devoting much space to the anti-Jewish outbreaks which took place ### Bucharest during the last few days. The liberal press demands that the government take energetic measures against the students involved in these outbreaks.
COURT TRIAL FOR 30
The thirty students arrested during the anti-Jewish riots here this week will be tried in court at the end of the month. It was pointed out here that Rumania is still under martial law and that the thirty arrested may therefore receive severe sentences.
The repercussions of the campaign launched by Dr. Vaida-Voevod are felt in every part of the country, but most of all in Kishineff, where the traditions of Krushevan and the Czarist pogromists of Kishineff are still strong, the Kishineff Yiddish daily Unser Zeit writes in an editorial:
“The agitation has been taken up here with full force. Anti-Semitic speakers are coming here from all over the place and springing up on all sides,” the editorial states. “Anti-Semitic publications are appearing one after the other.
