The fifteenth anniversary of the founding of schools maintained by the Workmen’s Circle, national Jewish fraternal organization, was celebrated Sunday evening with a banquet at Beethoven Hall, 210 East 5th street, in honor of the executive committee for the schools.
About 650 teachers, alumni, members of parents councils and officers of the Workmen’s Circle were present at the banquet. R. Block, chairman of the school committee, was toasmaster. Speakers included N.Chait, secretary of the Central School committee; Joseph Baskin, general secretary of the Wrkmen’s Circle; Philip Block, chairman of the Workmen’s Circle educational committee; S. Efroykin, director of the Workmen’s Circle Mitlshul and Philip Geliebter, educational director of the Workmen’s Circle.
A souvenir magazine, “Youth Speaks,” prepared by amulni of the4 schools, was distributed. The magazine is printed in Yiddish, the language of instruction in Workmen’s Cirlcle Schools, of which there are a number throughout the country.
