Mortimer Schwager was elected president of the United Jewish Aid Societies at its twenty-fourth annual meeting, held Monday night at the Temple House of Congregation Beth Elohim, Brooklyn, it was announced yesterday. Mr. Schwager succeeds Mortimer Brenner.
At the meeting, the relationship of the private family welfare society to the public relief agency under present conditions was discussed by Commissioner of Public Welfare William Hodson, Dr. Solomon Lowenstein, executive vice-president of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies and Mr. Brenner.
Other officers elected at the meeting were: vice – presidents, Mortimer Brenner, Adolph Begi# Emanuel Celler, Abraham N. Davis, Jerome Roth; treasurer, Charles I. Mandel; secretary, Jack Warshauer. Samuel Rabinovitch is the executive director of the organization, which is the only family welfare agency of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities.
