Another examination of Sholom Schwartzbard, slayer of Semion Petlura was held by Magistrate Peyre yesterday.
The examination centered around Schwartzbard’s visit to Russia in 1917. The investigating authorities were desirous of obtaining his reason for making the trip to Russia in that year. Schwartzbard explained that he joined the French Military Commission in his belief that the commission would raise the spirit of the Russian army in its fight for the cause of the Allies.
JAMES N. ROSENBERG’S FATHER DIES AT AGE OF 81
Funeral services for the late Henry Rosenberg, father of James N. Rosenberg the vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee were held yesterday at the Free Synagogue. Mr. Rosenberg died on February 3. at his home in New York City. Mr. Rosenberg who was born in Bavaria was eight-one years old. His wife was the former Henrietta Naumberg.
Mr. Rosenberg is survived by his son James N. Rosenberg and a daughter, Minnie Rosenberg. The late Floreare H. Hart was his daughter.
Messages of condolence were received by Mr. James N. Rosenberg from many prominent persons throughout the country. Leaders in the Jewish community in New York were present at the services.
