Enrico Glicenstein, the Jewish sculptor, is in New York today supervising the molding of the bronze of a sculpture of President Roosevelt, which he has recently finished. When completed the work will be exhibited for a time at the Century of Progress, and then will be on permanent display in Chicago at the Covenant Club, whose members subscribed to the commission.
Art critics who have seen the original piece of work say the bronze promises to be the outstanding sculptural portrait of President Roosevelt. The initial work, in preparation for the actual sitting was done from photographs of the President, upon which Glicenstein spent many months of study and labor. With the actual subject before him, however, the sculptor said, he found that no existing profile pictures gave adequate indication of the true contours of the President’s face.
