A memorial meeting was held here at the Seattle Talmud Torah under the auspices of the Jewish National Fund to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Theodor Herzl.
The assembly also mourned the passing of Chaim N. Bialik, Hebrew poet, whose works were read by Talmud Torah children and whose career was eulogized in Yiddish and English speeches.
Samuel Rothstein, long active in Zionist work in Vancouver, B. C., and recently returned from Palestine, his new home, described his experiences there. Henry Silver, Seattle B’nai B’rith treasurer, just returned from Vienna, told of his visit to the city where Herzl founded modern Zionism and where Bialik died.
On the speaker’s rostrum were Rabbi S. P. Wohlgelernter and Max J. Wohlgelernter; Sol Esfeld, head of the Seattle Zionist Organization; Charles Miller, president, Bikur Cholum Congregation; Ben Maslan, B’nai B’rith president; and P. Allen Rickles, president of Herzl Congregation.
