All Jews remaining in Styria must leave the province before Aug. 1, according to an order issued by provincial authorities here today.

Before “Anschluss” about 5,000 Jews lived in Styria, and there was a thriving Jewish community in this provincial capital. Jews dispossessed here were expected to find succor from the Jewish Community in Vienna until they can leave the country.

Styria is the second Austrian province to order complete expulsion of Jews. The first was Carinthia, which two months ago was known to have reduced its Jewish population to fewer than 20.
